Evangelical Missiological Society (EMS) CANADA 2026 REGIONAL CONFERENCE

Theme: "Theological Anthropology for Missional Engagement"

Date: Friday, April 10, 2026

The EMS Canada Regional Conference in April is your opportunity to contribute to critical missiological conversations rooted in Canadian contexts and geared toward global impact.

This year’s theme “Theological Anthropology for Missional Engagement” is central to missiological reflection and practice, since acts of gospel witness, service, and cultural engagement all rest on assumptions about human identity, dignity, and destiny. In a rapidly changing world—marked by shifting views of spirituality, ethnicity, gender, technology, and ecology—the church must embrace a biblically faithful and missionally engaged understanding of the imago Dei.

At the heart of this year’s theme is the exploration of Imago Dei in missional engagement—how human dignity, human rights, and gospel witness flow from being created in God’s image. This perspective grounds reflection on the meaning of being human and how the imago Dei shapes evangelism, discipleship, community, and global mission

Together we will ask:

“How do theological anthropology and Christian responses to debates about personhood and identity inform the theory and practice of mission?”

Participants are encouraged to frame their papers through one or more of the following areas of engagement, known as the Four As Framework:

  • Academy – theological formation and educational communities

  • Assembly – local churches and denominational life

  • Agency – mission organizations, ministries, and networks

  • Agora – marketplace, workplace, and public life

2026 SUB-THEMES

Submissions may approach the theme through theological, cultural, or practical lenses. The following sub-themes offer possible entry points for engagement:

  • A. Humanity and the Image of God

  • B. Embodiment, Relationship, and Culture

  • C. Creation, Technology, and Human Flourishing

  • D. Language, Translation, and Public Witness

Locations

In-Person:

  • Alberta (AB): The King’s University, Edmonton

  • British Columbia (BC): Trinity Western University, Langley

  • Manitoba (MB): Steinbach Bible College, Steinbach

  • Ontario (ON): Tyndale University, Toronto

MOBILIZE! - Families on Mission Webinar

Tuesday, February 17, 2026
Online | 60 minutes

4 PM PT / 5 PM MT / 6 PM CT / 7 PM ET / 8 PM AT / 8:30 PM NT

The Lausanne Children and Family Issue Network and Lausanne North America, in collaboration with Families on Mission (Children Everywhere Walking with Jesus, GoPlay, Global Children’s Forum), Scripture Union Canada, and EñDgame eSports, invites you to a vision cast webinar on Families on Mission.

Households are one of God’s most overlooked mission fields. This webinar introduces Families on Mission, a shared vision and practical framework that helps families and households live with intentional gospel presence in their neighbourhoods, friendships, and everyday rhythms.

Pearl Ganta, Jonathan Murray and Bret Chapman will outline the vision, share practical starting points, and invite participants into an ongoing conversation about mobilizing households across Canada as places of evangelism and discipleship. The session is designed to spark learning, story-sharing, and collaboration rather than promote a single program or model.

What to expect:

  • An introduction to the Families on Mission vision and framework

  • Real-world examples and simple practices households can try

  • Q&A and an invitation to continue the conversation with others across Canada

Who this is for:

Parents, couples, singles, empty nesters, church leaders, small group leaders, and anyone asking: What would it look like for my household to live on mission where we already are?

Speakers:

  • Pearl Ganta, Global Catalyst for Children and Family Issue Network

  • Jonathan Murray, Director of Training and Outreach, Scripture Union Canada

  • Bret Chapman, Founder & Global Mentor; EñDgame eSports

Time Zones:

  • 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM (PT)

  • 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM (MT)

MOBILIZE! – Engaging the Generations

MOBILIZE! – Engaging the Generations

Thursday, January 29 - 12 PM CT (10 AM PT / 1 PM ET)

90-minute online workshop

Presented in collaboration with Missionfest Manitoba and Missionfest BC, this workshop supports exhibitors and ministry teams seeking to engage meaningfully across generations in conference and festival settings.

The session brings together practitioners who regularly work across age groups to explore how generational differences shape conversation, calling, and next steps. Rather than reducing generations to stereotypes, the focus is on recognizing patterns, translating well across differences, and adapting engagement practices in real event environments.

The conversation will include:

  • How younger and older generations approach faith, calling, and mission conversations differently

  • The role of bridge generations in helping translate language, expectations, and assumptions

  • Practical practices exhibitors can use to engage youth, young adults, families, and older adults with clarity and respect

  • Shared learning drawn from both practitioner experience and participant insight

This is a facilitated, practitioner-oriented conversation rather than a formal presentation, with space for reflection, observation, and shared wisdom from the room.

In conversation

  • Kayla Smith, National Director, How To Life Movement

  • Lisa Pak, Global Strategist, Finishing the Task

  • Joel Zantingh, National Director - Engagement, Lausanne Movement Canada

Who should attend
Exhibitors and ministry teams from mission agencies, churches, schools, camps, nonprofits, and partner organizations.

MOBILIZE! – Exhibiting Well

MOBILIZE! – Exhibiting Well

Thursday, January 22 - 12 PM CT (10 AM PT / 1 PM ET)

90-minute online workshop

Presented in collaboration with Missionfest Manitoba and Missionfest BC, this workshop supports exhibitors who serve at conferences, festivals, and public mission events.

Drawing on years of experience in mobilization and event leadership, the session explores practical ways exhibitors can strengthen how they engage people at their booths and tables. The focus is on transferable practices that work across contexts, whether participants are first-time exhibitors or seasoned teams.

The conversation will explore:

  • Welcoming visitors with clarity and warmth

  • Engaging in meaningful, non-scripted conversations

  • Communicating purpose without pressure

  • Discerning appropriate next steps and follow-up

Rather than formal presentations, the session is designed as a facilitated practitioner conversation. Shared learning allows participants to surface practices, tensions, and insights that reflect real exhibitor experience.

Participants will leave with practical approaches they can apply immediately in any event setting.

In conversation

  • Tim Noble, Executive Director, Missionfest Manitoba; Director of Mobilization, OMF

  • Chris Pulsifer, Agency Relations, Missionfest BC

  • Bosco Tung, National Associate Director, Lausanne Movement Canada
